So you want KFC? There’s an app for that

As China's economy stutters, growing numbers of diners on a budget are tapping into smartphone applications to snap up meal delivery deals, spelling big trouble for fast food chains like Yum Brands Inc's KFC and Pizza Hut. There's an app for everything and that includes fried chicken delivery.

KFC has recently launched a delivery app for users on Android and iOS. Customers can place orders for fried chicken combo meals, desserts and more with the KFC Malaysia app.

To place an order, simply select the meal of your choice and proceed to payment. Your bill will include a RM3 delivery charge and 6% service tax.

After that, you can choose to pay with cash or credit card. Depending on the time of day, you may have to wait up till 60 minutes for your delivery to arrive.

If you love your Cheezy Wedges then here is some good news. From now till Dec 2, customers who place a delivery order can redeem one free large Cheezy wedges. This promotional deal is valid for customers who register for a user account on the app.

On the delivery app website, there is an extensive FAQ section for customers to find out more about the service. For example, customers will receive a confirmation email after placing an order.

The FAQ also states that delivery is available from 10am to 10.30pm daily, including public holidays. Customers can even schedule orders in advance. There is a minimum order of RM15 excluding delivery charges.

The app has a self-collect option where customers can place pre-orders and pick up the meal during a preferred time at a selected store.

However, this service is currently only available at 13 KFC stores in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. KFC states that it is working towards adding more locations for self-collect.

KFC has also recently announced a partnership with Maybank to enable Maybank QRPay at KFC restaurants. Customers who dine-in can now pay for their meals with a QR code generated through the Maybank app.

This digital payment system is currently available at 11 KFC outlets namely KFC Puduraya, Pavilion 2, Bukit Bintang, KL Sentral, Mid Valley Megamall, KLIA 2, Sunway Pyramid, Shah Alam Section 7, The Curve and VSQ.

KFC promises to include this service at more outlets nationwide by the first quarter of 2019.
