In the early days of the Internet (and we’re talking 1995, which is an eternity in technology terms) the server-side scripting language PHP was introduced and, believe it or not, it’s still the basis of many websites. Unlike client-side scripting, where everything runs on the web browser, server-side scripting is a technique that uses scripts on a web server to provide responses when a user makes a request on a website.
