Sidewalk Labs LLC, the urban-innovation unit of Alphabet Inc, is looking for ways to incorporate Google’s Canadian headquarters into its plans for a waterfront development in Toronto.
The company’s plans for a "City of the Future” on Toronto’s port lands encompassed about 166 acres with a spot for Google on Villiers West. But those plans have been scaled back to focus on a 12-acre site called Quayside. Sidewalk Labs has been working on the project with Waterfront Toronto, the public corporation in charge of the development, for more than two years.
