More returns: ShopBack is offering extra cashback returns on online purchases on its first anniversary.

ShopBack Malaysia is celebrating its first anniversary on Feb 22 by offering its customers a hefty “cashback” of 5% to 50%.

One participating online merchant, Lazada, will even be offering 50% to 100% cashback on selected items. If the cashback is 100%, you will essentially be getting the item for free.

Other merchants joining the 24-hour event include Agoda, Booking.com, Groupon, HappyFresh, Hermo, Qoo10, Photobook Malaysia, Supermodel’s Secrets, Taobao and Zalora

“Malaysian shoppers have cashed out more than RM4mil in 2015 alone,” says Gil Carmo, ShopBack Malaysia country head.

“Local shoppers make up only about 1% of Malaysia’s population – that means there are still enormous opportunities for us to reach out to the rest,” he says.

ShopBack, which claims to be one of the top cashback companies in Southeast Asia, says more than 20 companies will be offering items such as home electronics, mobile gadgets, travel packages and hotel accommodations.

Registration is free and shoppers will receive an e-mail on the cashback earned within a day of shopping through its site.

The amount can then be transferred to a local bank account once the status becomes redeemable.
