Eight arrested for possessing illegal firearms in Ranau


KOTA KINABALU: A gunsmith with over 20 years of experience and a soldier were among eight people held for possessing homemade firearms and bullets in Ranau district.Sabah deputy police commissioner Datuk Zaini Jass said the suspects, aged between 30 and 80, included sellers and suppliers of the illegal firearms. They were picked up in raids on Aug 6 and 7, he added.

“These raids led to the seizure of four bakakuk (homemade guns), an airgun and an imitation pistol, about 1, 225 pellets and about 256 bullet shells, ” he said at a press conference here yesterday.
