Warning shots, high speed chase as MMEA nabs six Vietnamese fishing boats in M'sian waters

KUALA TERENGGANU, 28 April -- Pengarah Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (APMM) Terengganu Kapten Maritim Muhammad Suffi Mohd Ramli (dua, kiri) memeriksa ikan yang telah ditangkap oleh nelayan Vietnam selepas sidang media di Ibu Pejabat Maritim Terengganu hari ini. APMM menerusi kapal KM Pekan berjaya menahan enam buah bot serta 63 nelayan dan tekong Vietnam berumur antara 15 hingga 59 tahun yang menceroboh perairan negara ini dalam satu operasi pada 25 dan 26 April lepas. KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): There was drama aplenty - warning shots and a high-speed chase - when the Terengganu Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained six Vietnamese fishing boats with 63 crew members, including the skippers, during a two-day operation.

Terengganu MMEA director Maritime Capt Muhammad Suffi Mohd Ramli said four of the boats were detained on Thursday (April 25) between 7.30 am and 4pm about 141 to 153 nautical miles east of Kuala Terengganu, near the state oil exploration area.
