PETALING JAYA: PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has called on syariah authorities in Sabah to investigate Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz after he admitted to being one of the men in a viral sex video.

"PAS urges the Sabah Syariah court to investigate and punish the individual based on his confession," he said on his Facebook page Wednesday (June 12).

Muhammad Haziq, who is the senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, has admitted to being the man who was with the minister in the video.

He also named the minister and urged the authorities to investigate him for corruption.

Tuan Ibrahim also called on PAS members and leaders not to get involved in the circulation of the viral video.

He said as Muslims, they must not make accusations unless it was witnessed personally.

"PAS urges its members and leaders to focus on issues that would benefit the ummah.

"At a time when there are economic and social problems affecting the people, PAS has to step up to become an agent that helps, and not one that wastes time and energy on non-beneficial things," he said.

Earlier, PAS ulama chief Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed had called on members not get involved in the sex scandal by spreading false accusations against fellow Muslims.

Dr Mahfodz had also urged the relevant authorities to investigate the video, including taking action against the individual who had confessed.
