Musa Aman to return to Malaysia against doctor's advice

KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Musa Aman has decided to return to Malaysia against the advice of the doctor treating him in the United Kingdom, says his political secretary Joh Wid.

Joh uploaded a photo to Facebook on Tuesday (Aug 21) showing the Sungai Sibuga assemblyman dressed in a hospital gown and lying on a stretcher, with the caption saying that Musa had decided to return against the advice of the doctor at the Clementine Churchill Hospital in London.

He wrote that Musa had to be referred to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for follow-up treatment, and that the facility had records of his medical condition dating back 30 years.

"In this hospital, I found that he had gone through several emergency heart surgeries, and had to do several follow-up treatments to ensure that he was in stable condition.

"He did not run away, but was seeking treatment," stressed Joh.

He added that Musa had never revealed his condition to the public, including his officers while he was the Sabah Chief Minister.

"He does not want to be seen as a weak person.

"If his condition had been exposed, it would have affected the confidence of the people, his party and foreign investors in the political and financial status of Sabah," said Joh.

He added that after the issue over the appointment of the Chief Minister happened following the general election in May, Musa thought it would be best for him to rest and receive the best treatment for his health.

"Now the time has arrived for him to come home and fulfil his responsibilities as an assemblyman without being forced by any parties," he said in the post.

Musa is wanted by the police over a criminal intimidation report lodged by Sabah governor Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.
