PUTRAJAYA: Set a good example to children by having a good savings habit, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has advised parents.

She said it was important to educate and encourage children to save for their education and “rainy days”.

“There are many reputable and trustworthy platforms available including those under Permodalan Nasional Berhad Nasional (PNB) to encourage savings among our young.

“However, I urge the public not to be easily influenced by get-rich-quick schemes as such investments often ends with people being cheated of their hard-earned money,” she said at the launch of Amanah Saham Bumiputera 2 (ASB2) investment for children under the Permata Negara programme.

The Prime Minister’s wife commended the PNB for encouraging the public to start saving from as young as six months olf through ASB 2.

She also thanked PNB for providing an investment start-up worth RM100 to each of Permata’s 15,492 young students.

“This initiative is truly meaningful as it is a stepping stone for the children and their parents to start saving for future,” she added.

Under the initiative, PNB contributes a total of RM1.6mil as a start-up for ASB2 and the beneficiaries are students under Permata Negara, Permata Kemas, Permata Perpaduan dan Integrasi Nasional and kindergartens under Terengganu Family Development Foundation.
