SHAH ALAM: Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin (pic) has been appointed the new Selangor police chief.

He takes over the reigns from outgoing CPO Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor, who will helm the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID).

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said he has no doubt that Comm Noor Azam will be able to carry on with Comm Mazlan’s excellent performance in the state.

“He (Comm Noor Azam) is a very experienced senior officer who is the right man for the job.

“I hope all officers will give their full cooperation to the CPO,” he said in his speech during the handing over ceremony for the state police chief’s post on Monday (Feb 4).

Comm Noor Azam was previously the Negri Sembilan police chief.

Mohamad Fuzi also urged Comm Noor Azam to focus on reducing the crime index further in Selangor, especially illegal gambling.

The IGP also saluted Comm Mazlan on a job well done throughout his tenure leading the state police since July 2017.

“He has no doubt improved the safety and security in the state with a people-centric approach towards crime busting and crime prevention.

“His measures are the embodiment of our motto ‘Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada’ (The Police and Society are Inseparable),” said Mohamad Fuzi.
