KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Court has nullified Barisan Nasional's victory in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat in GE14, paving a way for re-election after finding elements of corruption.

High Court (Appellate and Special Powers) judge Justice Azizah Nawawi said the petitioner DAP’s M. Manogaran had established beyond reasonable doubt that bribery was proven during the election.

“I find that the corrupt practice was committed in connection with the election with the knowledge of the respondent,” she said here Friday.

Justice Azizah was delivering her decision in the election petition filed by Manogaran who challenged the GE14 result for the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

He has named MIC’s Datuk C. Sivarraajh, who is the incumbent Cameron Highlands MP, as the respondent in the petition filed on June 4.
