Tunneling contractor notches another win

As the world’s first automated system using artificial intelligence control algorithms that enable an unprecedented level of automation, the A-TBM’s brain assumes control of steering, advance rate, excavation rate and slurry sub-systems, resulting in largely incident-free tunnelling in Kuala Lumpur, resulting in the successful breakthrough at the Ampang Park MRT station.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s most eminent tunnelling contractor MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd has gained another feather in its cap as far as innovative tunnelling is concerned.

Just this week, its autonomous tunnel boring machine (A-TBM), developed in-house, won the Technical Product/Equipment Innovation of the Year award at the 2019 International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) Tunnelling Awards event.
