KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Goldman Sachs has been in talks with Malaysian authorities to drop criminal charges against three subsidiaries of the bank in connection with the 1MDB scandal, the South-East Asian country's top prosecutor told the Nikkei Asian. Malaysian and US investigators say about US$4.5bil (RM18.7bil) was misappropriated from the now-defunct state investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Last year, Malaysia filed criminal charges against Goldman over its role as underwriter and arranger of three bond sales that raised US$6.5bil (RM27bil) for 1MDB.
