SEREMBAN (Bernama): Police have arrested two more men, believed to have stopped a police patrol SUV in front of a school during the Rantau by-election.
Acting Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop said police picked up the two suspects in Nilai and Rantau respectively at about 11.30am on Monday (April 15).
"With the arrest of the men in their 20s and 40s, brings the total number of those detained to five.
“Three of them were apprehended yesterday, and were remanded for three days from today. We are applying for a remand for the two others," he told reporters.
On Saturday (April 13), at about 6pm, five men stopped and inspected a police patrol SUV, as they believed the policemen were carrying additional ballot papers in front of SJKC Chung Hua.
The booth was opened, only to reveal an emergency medical kit and a safety cone.
Meanwhile, the three suspects, aged between 36 and 50, who were detained earlier were investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing civil servants from carrying out their duties.
The three in orange lockup uniform arrived in the court compound at 8.30am on Monday.
They were detained between noon and 4pm on Sunday (April 14) at three separate locations in the district. - Bernama
