KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Christina Liew (pic) has welcomed DAP's Vivian Wong to the government in a congratulatory message to the latter following her maiden victory in the Sandakan by-election.
"Congratulations and welcome aboard.
"This is invariably the beginning of an arduous journey where you have to move on with the inherent duties and responsibilities of a Member of Parliament representing Sandakan," she said.
"There are a lot of major things to do for the socio-economic upliftment of the district. But you will not be alone," she said in a statement shortly after the polls results were announced.
Liew, who is also Deputy Chief Minister cum Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, said she had invited Wong to her ministry to discuss potential tourism-related projects for Sandakan.
"I look forward to meeting up with her," she said.
