KOTA KINABALU: Two intruders believed to be scouting for targets for a kidnap-for-ransom group were killed after a dramatic shootout with Malaysian security forces off Sabah’s east coast, close to the southern Philippine border.

This came amid an alert issued by the Indonesian consulate in Kota Kinabalu for its nationals working in the marine industry along Sabah’s east coast to take extra precaution while the Eastern Sabah Security Command said it remained on alert in the area.
