S'gor to enforce ban on single-use plastic at all state govt buildings from July 1

Beginning Jan 1, plastic drinking straws will not be given out at restaurants unless requested as the Federal Territories Ministry prepares to fully enforce the ban on these straws in 2020.

SHAH ALAM (Bernama): The Selangor Government will enforce a ban on single-use plastics at all departments and agencies under the state's administration from July 1.

State Environment, Green Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Hee Loy Sian said the proposal for implementing the ban was approved by the state government Wednesday (May 29) in line with Malaysia’s Roadmap Towards Zero Single-use Plastics 2018-2030.
