KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): About 150,000 tickets are still available for those travelling back from their hometowns to Kuala Lumpur by Electric Train Service (ETS) and KTM Intercity trains from Friday (June 7) until June 16.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad corporate communications chief Ahmad Asri Khalbi said the tickets were available for those travelling from the north or south to Kuala Lumpur and vice versa, including this coming weekend.

"We have around 152,440 tickets available for those who are travelling after the holiday season, especially from Padang Besar to Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur and Tumpat, Kelantan to Kuala Lumpur and vice versa," he told Bernama here.

He urged the public to get the tickets fast as they were selling well because the Hari Raya and school holidays are coming to an end this weekend.

Travellers can book their tickets online at www.ktmb.com.my or from KTMB’s mobile application KTMB Mobticket which can be downloaded through Google Playstore.

Tickets can also be bought at the service counters at 105 KTMB stations all over Peninsular Malaysia.

Ahmad also said that KTMB operations have been running smoothly even though there were heavy rains for the past few days.

"Based on today’s operation report, despite the unpredictable weather, the trains are arriving and departing on time with no disruption,’’ he said.

Ahmad also said more people were choosing KTMB to travel back after the festive season as it saves time and they could avoid the frustrations of being stuck in highway traffic for hours.

For passenger safety, KTMB is also making sure that security is tight at all stations, mainly during the peak days for passengers travelling back from the festive season, with police stationed at major stations like KL Sentral, Butterworth and JB Sentral. - Bernama
