MANILA: In a surprising announcement, the Philippines said former dictator Ferdinand Marcos will be buried at noon on Friday at the heroes' cemetery, in a move apparently meant to head off protesters and last-minute petitions to bar the burial.
Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, head of the police force in metropolitan Manila, said Marcos' remains was flown by helicopter from Batac town in Ilocos Sur province to Manila.
