Investing in the generation

UCSI University aims to encourage Malaysian students to excel without worrying about finances.

FOR over three decades, UCSI University has been committed to furthering the discovery and celebration of knowledge.

This is evidenced by the 814 students who will receive scholarships through the UCSI University Trust Principal’s Award 2020 this weekend.

This is especially significant when compared to the 480 applications received in 2018 for the UCSI University Principal’s Award Scholarship 2019.

The money will be disbursed to students pursuing foundation programmes, Cambridge GCE A-Level, the South Australian Certificate Education International or bachelor’s degree programmes in both UCSI University and UCSI College.

UCSI University’s financial aid programme, which aims to encourage Malaysian students to excel in their studies without being encumbered by financial worries, also seeks to open a new pathway to higher education for students from all around the world.

Earlier this year, the merit-based scholarship was opened to students who undertook the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), the Unified Examinations Certificate Senior (UEC) Middle 3, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) O-levels or A-levels.

Aside from giving out scholarships, the university will also feature talks on aspects such as study and career pathways, including a meet-and-greet session with academics.

Also happening on the same day is UCSI University’s Open Day, to be held from 10am to 6pm. The two-day event will feature various workshops related to the Applied Sciences Faculty, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts Faculty, Engineering and Built Environment Faculty and the Institute of Creative Arts and Design.

Among the topics to be discussed during the workshops are understanding the different species of marine life at the faculty’s aquatic lab, embracing technologies in the fourth industrial revolution and software used to create animation, as well as personality tests.

Students can also experience a career matchmaking session to ascertain their passion and determine their education pathway.

Hub for higher educationThe university, which numbers among Malaysia’s leading institutions of higher education, is built on the principles of audacity, perseverance, integrity and excellence.

UCSI’s commitment in educating its undergraduates is matched by its progress in research and the discovery of knowledge as well as the pursuit of holistic higher education and knowledge with campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Sarawak.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to meet the needs of its students, the university’s faculties offer a wide spectrum of academic programmes ranging from medicine, pharmacy, nursing, engineering and architecture to music, multimedia, education, liberal arts and hospitality.

In the QS World University Rankings 2019 and 2020, UCSI ranked as the best private university. Its music school, the Institute of Music, also marked similar milestones when it was placed among the World’s Top 100 for performing arts twice in the QS World University Rankings By Subject in 2018 and 2019.

Moreover, its medical students are annually selected to advance high-impact research at Harvard University, while its engineering students go to top universities such as Imperial College London, Tsinghua University and the University of Queensland.
