FEDERAL Territories (FT) Minister Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has agreed to meet Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) residents to talk about the proposed mega project at Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) after no concrete solution was arrived at during a public dialogue between the two parties.

At the  Bicara Rakyat @ TTDI dialogue, Tengku Adnan reiterated that the project would not encroach into Taman Rimba Kiara.

"I will never touch TRK, I know my limits. For the sake of the rakyat, I will never do it," he said.

"The TTDI Residents Association can meet me to sort out the matter," he added.

Tengku Adnan said there was a document dated Nov 19, 2012 that stated that the land slated for the proposed development was a mixed commercial land.

"We need to look into how spaces are developed to cater to Kuala Lumpur's growing population," he added.

Adnan said this in response to Save Taman Rimba Kiara Group coordinator Leon Koay, who presented a slide show of the original 1982 master plan of TTDI and 2004 Kuala Lumpur structural plan that named TRK as a public space.

Koay stressed that TTDI residents were fully supportive of the ministry's plan to provide housing for the longhouse residents, which is now located the said land.

"We want to work with you on this, and because the residents are our neighbours, we are willing to help them," he said.

The  proposed housing development includes plans to build eight blocks of high-end apartments between 42 and 54-storeys, while another 29-storey block comprising 350 units of affordable housing would be allocated to the TTDI longhouse residents.

The development includes the construction of a six-lane highway and a flyover to accommodate the massive growth in population density from 74 to 979 people per acre.

TTDI Residents’ Association (RA) chairman Abdul Hafiz Abu Bakar said he would write a letter to the ministry to set an appointment with Tengku Adnan.

"There seemed to have no concrete solution after the dialogue but Tengku Adnan who agreed to meet with us is a huge step forward.

"We are hoping to meet him within these two weeks," he said.

Held at TTDI community hall on Nov 3, the Bicara Rakyat @ TTDI was an inaugural session for the Ministry to go on grounds and gain feedback from the residents about their neighbourhood.

Similar sessions will also be conducted in other areas.
