Malakoff subsidiary to sell renewable power to Tenaga for 21 years

Southeast Asia's largest independent power producer Malakoff Bhd posted a 30.1% increase in net profit to RM83.49mil in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2018.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corp Bhd will sell its green energy generated by its proposed 2.4MW Sungai Kachur Biogas power plant located in Kota Tinggi, Johor to Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

The independent power producer said on Friday its subsidiary Green Biogas Sdn Bhd had signed a 21-year renewable energy power purchase agreement with Tenaga.

Green Biogas, which is the feed-in approval holder, would supply the power from its proposed Sungai Kachur biogas power plant in Kota Tinggi.

Malakoff said Green Biogas had participated in a competitive feed-in tariff e-bidding exercise and submitted its bid for the project on Nov 30, 2018.

The government, through Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA), had on Jan 29, announced that it had accepted Green Biogas' bid as one of the successful bidders.
