Despite the red flags and warning signs, many tourists were seen still swimming in the sea at Desaru, Johor. Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Osman Mohamed Sebot said the warnings were not official, and were put up by the private managements of the beach.
DROWNING cases happen quite frequently in our country especially during the school holidays. Cases of death due to drowning are reported almost every month. Drowning incidents can happen in the river, waterfall, beach, hotel swimming pool and any water-based recreational areas.
Drowning deaths are preventable if adequate safety measures are taken.
