Did you know that 22% of the nation’s children are unable to complete their education?
While Malaysia has achieved almost universal primary school enrolment (97% in 2013), and most of those students move on to the secondary level, challenges remain in addressing secondary school drop-out rates and reaching children in the country’s most disadvantaged communities who, for different reasons, never enrol or drop out before completing their basic education. According to a Unicef (United Nations Children’s Fund) Malaysia report, that 22% are unable to finish their education due to poverty, disability, discrimination, and other socioeconomic barriers.
